Horn River Basin
The Horn River formation is a large basin covering approximately 1.3 million acres, located in north eastern British Columbia just north of the Montney Gas formation of which Pengrowth also has an interest.
The original gas-in-place volumes in the Horn River basis are estimated to be up to 500 trillion cubic feet, which makes it one of the largest North American natural gas accumulations and Canada’s largest shale gas play.
Pengrowth’s 113 net sections of land are strategically located close to the Spectra Fort Nelson plant and the proposed Encana Cabin Facility and include prospects in both the Muskwa and Evie shale deposits.
